How to make photo without background?

Monday, April 14, 2014

To succeed with this instruction will need the photo with monotonic background. It is important.

For this you will need Photoshop.

Firstly, we need to convert layer in convenient one for changes. So, right click on the “Background” layer in the “Layers” tab. Then select “Convert to Smart Object” menu item.

Once again right click on this layer and choose the “Rasterize Layer”.

Well, that’s good. Ok, now try to clear background on the photo. For this select the following tool in the right panel: “Magic Wand Tool”. If you can’t find it there – find “Quick Selection Tool” and holding click on it. In few moments context menu will appear and you will be able to select the necessary tool.

Try to select the background with this tool – click on the background. If you have the “Tolerance” value small (e. g. 2), you could notice that the background is been selecting with very small areas.

But if the “Tolerance” is high (like 42), it will select almost all monotonic background.

So, clear the rest of background with this tool.

Then choose the “Eraser tool”, set the “Size” and clean all “pollution” on the photo.

Also, notice that there could be other problems like the shadow from flash. Clear them.

Once you are ready, click “File” menu item and then “Save As”.

Change the format to .png, because this format supports transparency.

Now you can add this photo to the header of your template in Artisteer (click on “Header” tab and insert the “Image”).
